Homemade: Vegan Apple Crumble

If you follow me on snapchat( isssiieee) or Instagram then you know this summer I have been having the best harvest from the allotment. I love growing my own produce and using it to make food. No pesticides and its all organic :). We have a bramley apple tree and so I decided to make up some recipes starting with Apple Crumble.

Personally bramley apples make the best crumbles and this recipes I think is no exception. Its sweet and crunchy and its just amazing. I would recommend serving it hot with either some homemade vanilla ice cream or as my brother prefers it with custard.

7medium Bramley apple - peeled , cored and cut
2 cinnamon sticks
Juice of 1 lemon
200g butter ( I prefer vegan butter)
250g plain flour
80g rolled oats
100g brown sugar
  1. Preheat the oven to 190c
  2. In a saucepan  combine the apples, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks with the caster sugar. Cook for 10 mins until the apples begin to soften over a medium heat. Remove and spoon into dish.
  3. In a large bowl, rub the butter and the flour together until it resembles fine breadcrumbs and then stir in the oats and brown sugar.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble over the apples.
  5. Bake in the oven until the crumble is golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and enjoy.
I hope you enjoy it and lil Disclaimer, this is not the only recipe for apple crumble this is just one that I have adapted and that works for me. We all love it so I keep making it but I would love for y'all to share with me your recipes so I can try them as well. Let me know what you think if you make it and tag me as well if you follow this recipe. #issiecooks
